Practice is closed Bank Holiday 28th August 2023
Thankfully a major step towards the full re-establishment of dental services in Northern Ireland was announced today.
The Department of Health NI has announced that dental practices in Northern Ireland will be allowed to move to Phase 2 of practice recovery from Monday 29th June. This means from that date we will be able to offer non-urgent dental care treatments that are non-aerosol generating.
We have been provided with a list of permitted procedures that can be carried out from that date which will include procedures such as extractions, removing dental decay and placing temporary fillings and making dentures.
We will be adopting a priority based approached when allocating appointments to patients who have contacted us over the past few months to deal with their dental needs.
We have always prided ourselves in maintaining the highest cross-infection standards in the practice, because of the COVID19 pandemic we will have enhanced cleaning and disinfection protocols in place in the practice. With this and social distancing requirements we will still be limited in the number of patients we are able to see each day.
Acting Chief Dental Officer with the Department of Health, Michael Donaldson, said that dental practices have been heavily impacted by the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
“I would like to pay tribute to all dentists and staff who, throughout the pandemic, have gone the extra mile to ensure that patients in urgent need were able to receive the care that they required in very challenging circumstances.”
This is the second phase of our reopening and it will be monitored closely. If all goes well, we may be able to provide aerosol generating procedures like fillings and root treatments in Phase 3 at the end of July, provided enhanced PPE is available.
In the meantime, if you require urgent advice please call us on 02897 519055 and we will explain how we are able to help.
Thank you all for your patience and understanding.
